Statutory Law
-The Illinois Environmental Protection Act, 415 ILCS 5/1 et seq.
This is Illinois’ primary statute for protecting and restoring the environment. The Act gives the Illinois Environmental Protection agency the authority to regulate pollution in Illinois and establishes the intent for Illinois to run an NPDES program. See 415 ILCS 5/11.
-The Illinois Administrative Procedure Act, 5 ILCS 100/et seq.
This Act governs the regulatory actions of all state agencies.
-The Illinois Administrative Code, 35 Ill. Admin. Code 501-580
Title 35 of the Illinois Administrative Code sets forth the Illinois Pollution Control Board’s regulations and standards for pollution control and the Illinois EPA’s rules for administering pollution control regulations. Sections 501-580 deal with agricultural related water pollution.
